Almost Funny

Posted : 17 years, 5 months ago on 9 November 2006 06:35 (A review of Almost Heroes)

Almost Heroes is almost funny. Matthew Perry? Give me David Spade to complete the dynamic duo and this is another Chris Farley classic. I just can't take Chandler Bing seriously outside of his comfort zone.

Banzai

Posted : 17 years, 5 months ago on 8 November 2006 10:27 (A review of The Adventures of Buckaroo Banzai Across the Eighth Dimension)

The cult classic starring Robocop himself, Peter Weller, as Buckaroo Banzai is a fun science fiction adventure worthy of a view. There are so many stars in this film I don't know where to begin, but I will say the character names are by far the best to come out of the 80s.

"Horror"ible

Posted : 17 years, 5 months ago on 8 November 2006 10:06 (A review of Frankenstein Reborn)

This movie started like the "made for tv" title suggests, but the ending wasn't that bad. The horror sequences are pretty bloody, but nothing can make up for "horror"ible acting.

Dead Man

Posted : 17 years, 5 months ago on 8 November 2006 04:12 (A review of Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest)

The latest installment of Disney's new money-maker fell far short of the first episode both in storyline and entertainment. I spent the first half of the movie wondering why all the action featured everyone bumbling around chasing each other in these elaborate half hour goofy nailbiter sequences. The other half of the movie was spent wondering when the movie would end. So Jack Sparrow dies? They should have killed the story with him, I can only imagine what his return will be like in the finale.

Off the Boat

Posted : 17 years, 5 months ago on 8 November 2006 03:57 (A review of Out to Sea)

Typically, the onscreen duo of Jack Lemmon and Walter Matthau will always be considered one of the greats, but this movie however fell far short of their previous installments of Grumpy Old Men and Grumpier Old Men. Trying to follow Matthau and his motives on the cruise were as difficult as watching Lemmon try to find happiness with another woman.

Kill Mamma

Posted : 17 years, 5 months ago on 8 November 2006 12:54 (A review of Throw Momma from the Train)

This crime comedy may be a bit goofy, but Danny Devito and Billy Crystal are hilarious together. Anne Ramsey is mamma, and let me tell you, I would definitely be on board with Devito to end her life.

Not so Mysterious

Posted : 17 years, 5 months ago on 7 November 2006 05:19 (A review of The Cosby Mysteries)

There were so many holes in the made for tv movie that the only mystery I found was how long the show this was adapted from managed to stay on tv. There is however a nice surprise cameo by wannabe detective Mos Def.

This Movie is the "Best! Around..."

Posted : 17 years, 5 months ago on 6 November 2006 08:07 (A review of The Karate Kid)

This movie is the epitome of the totally awesome 80s. From the classic quotable lines to the hip soundtrack, this movie showcases an entire generation including my need to relive Ralph Macchio's character during my youth. To this day, I have yet to hear a better, more inspirational theme song, "Your the Best!".

State of the Union

Posted : 17 years, 5 months ago on 6 November 2006 07:46 (A review of XXX: State of the Union)

"The fate of the free world is in the hands of hustlers and thieves". Ha ha, are you kidding me? The second installment to the hi-tech action series proves that sequels to bad movies are even worse. Former NWA front man Ice Cube brings more personality to the character than Vin Diesel, but its too bad the writers can't seem to focus any attention on the dialogue.

Nighthawks

Posted : 17 years, 5 months ago on 6 November 2006 07:37 (A review of Nighthawks)

This is a classic transitional 80's action cop drama starring none other than Sly Stallone. Battling an international terrorist on the streets of NYC is no easy task but being the one-talent actor that he is, Stallone summons up the will to take down Wulfgar. There are some great quotable lines.
