Rising Sun

The mysterious twists and turns of this culture clash between Japan and America is definitely worth a view. Wesley Snipes and Sean Connery work well together in this action packed thriller.

The Sequel

Its always hard to admit a sequel passes the original in any sense, but City Slickers II brought more humor and interest than the first. Jack Palance is the man in this installment.

City Slickers

In memory of Jack Palance, his more recent recognizeable role of Curly in the western comedy City Slickers made the movie that somehow inspired a sequel. The humor of Billy Crystal and friends was a bit stale and even the heroic ending wasn't enough for me.

There is Nothing Random About Being Bad

Talk about by misled by the media. When I saw previews to this film I was expecting a murder mystery. Instead, it was two hours of romantic, plotless torture.

He Not So Funny

"Has this man made the funniest movie ever"? No. Not even close. Don't get me wrong, there are some hilarious uncomfortable moments and the exploitation of Middle America was great, but it wasn't enough to support Borat's cross-country motives as the film just lacked a storyline worthy of the hype.
What made Borat so great on Da Ali G Show was Sacha Baron Cohen's moderate use of the character. An hour and a half of the accent and mannerisms became a real annoyance as I begged for Ali G or Brรผno to show up and reclaim my interest. Overall, I would class it along with recent slapstick comedic documentaries such as the Jackass Movie series, but I could hardly make an attempt to place it anywhere near my top 25 comedies of all time.

Playing God

David Duchovny played few roles outside of Fox Mulder during the 90s, and Playing God is one of the small gems to come outside the paranormal box. Duchovny and Angelina Jolie have good on-screen chemistry and the result is a pretty entertaining film.

Wasted Time

Keanu Reeves is at his best (which coincidentally is his worst) in the science fiction thriller Johnny Mnemonic. Three things: Keanu Reeves, Ice-T, and a dolphin. If I said anymore, I would be wasting your time.

White Chicks

First off, the disguises were so ridiculous, I could barely watch the Wayans brothers while incognito. The story was weak as was the acting but come on, what would you expect. Overall, the movie had some good laughs in spirit of traditional Wayans slapstick comedy.

A Beautiful Performance

It's amazing how a man with such a temper can turn in such professional performances like A Beautiful Mind. Russell Crowe played the role perfectly, drawing you into his character and the storyline with such a passion that the audience could truly understand the genius and mania that plagued the mind of John Nash.

Familiar

Adam Sandler's dedication to a familiar amnesiac Drew Berrymore makes for a great on-screen romantic comedy. The real comedy however came from an unlikely hero, Drew's on-screen brother, the original Goonie himself, Sean Astin. Somehow, the story's repetitiveness never seemed to get old.
